Mobile Banking Marches On

Internet Banking members are finding that Mobile Banking is the ultimate convenience. Members enjoy viewing their accounts (including Visa transactions), transferring money instantly, and even depositing checks from anywhere at any time.

Recent Mobile Banking App enhancements released in January make the experience even better. Now in-app Mobile Bill-Pay allows you to pay existing billers and view pending payments on the go. In addition, mobile depositors now enjoy a more stable image capture experience.

We are always looking for ways to make banking easier and more efficient. We have plans for another major enhancement to our Mobile Banking App later this year that will improve the timing of mobile deposits and add some security upgrades.

Here's What Members Are Saying when Rating the App:

  • "This is a great Mobile app. The upgrade with bill pay is easy to use. And the ability to deposit checks is fantastic!" – Jan. 22, 2013
  • "This app has made my life so much easier! I live 25 minutes away from the branch, so I mail all of my deposits. This app has helped make banking so much easier, and faster. Thanks!" – Jan. 24, 2013
  • "Mobile deposit is awesome. Everything else you can do on the website, but the app is more streamlined." – Jan. 19, 2013

Guard Your Child's Identity

Adults aren't the only targets of identity theft. If you have children, there are steps you can take to protect them from an identity theft that could affect them well into adulthood.

How to Protect Your Children:

  • Access your children's credit reports by calling (877) 322-8228 or visiting
annualcreditreport.com to see if any incorrect financial information is being reported.
  • Keep your children's birth certificates and social security cards in a secure location, and share this information only when absolutely necessary.
  • Monitor mail for age-inappropriate correspondence – like credit card offers or collections notices – and contact the sender to clear up any problems.
  • Have a discussion with your children about limiting what kind of personal information they share online.

Have more questions? A BALANCE counselor will be happy to guide you through any personal finance topics you wish to discuss. It's free of charge as a member benefit to you. Call (888) 456-2227 to talk with a counselor or visit balancepro.net to chat online.

Celebrating 45 Years of Member Service

In 1968, a small group of Pittsford Central School District employees got together and decided they wanted higher earnings on their savings and a source of affordable loans. They pooled their funds and launched a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative. On November 4, 1968, the credit union was granted its charter from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and Pittsford Federal Credit Union was officially launched.

On March 20 of this year, Pittsford Federal Credit Union held its annual meeting where President William Beach shared the credit union's accomplishments over the last year. He was pleased to report that "overall, the membership is very satisfied with the credit union's operations," and that "the vast majority of members would recommend Pittsford FCU to a friend, neighbor or relative."

While a lot has changed in the last 45 years (Who could have imagined back then the ability to manage finances from the palm of your hand?), it's clear that what's important has stayed the same – Pittsford FCU exists to help its members get ahead financially.

To help us celebrate our 45th anniversary, we would like you to share your memories of Pittsford FCU. Tell us when and why you joined Pittsford FCU, or how being a member impacted your life at a particular time (such as your first car or home loan). Did an employee ever make your day? What do you appreciate most about your credit union? While you're sharing your stories, we'll be sharing some of our own on our Facebook page. We'll even find some old photos to help you down memory lane. If you haven't already "liked" us, you can do so on our Facebook page.

Four Ways to Share Your Credit Union Memories:

As the year continues, we'll look for other ways to celebrate this milestone. Just know that whether you've been a member for 45 years or 45 days, you are appreciated!

Pittsford Food Cupboard Help

Member Service Representatives Christina Dougal and Mary Howk are coordinating the Pittsford FCU adoption of two shelves at the Pittsford Food Cupboard. This means Pittsford FCU will now be responsible for making sure the Coffee/Tea and Jelly/Jam shelves are well stocked at the Food Cupboard.

Christina and Mary encourage you to support this valuable and well-utilized community resource by making a donation of non-perishable foods directly to the Food Cupboard, located in the Old Pickle Factory on Grove Street. If the Food Cupboard is outside your normal route, you may also bring your items to either Pittsford FCU branch, and they'll be happy to deliver them on your behalf. And while our commitment is for the items mentioned above, we'll be happy to accept and deliver any non-perishable items.
